When it comes to bodybuilding many
people make many different claims about the supplements that can help. But,
unfortunately, not all of these people are always telling the truth. As such,
research and understanding the supplements that you need to help with your
bodybuilding efforts is a vital part of the process. Of course, knowing the
proteins that won’t help you is also extremely important. For this reason,
check out the following supplements and remember to avoid them at all costs:
Glutamine
An amino acid, the claim is that glutamine can help increase synthesis in the proteins of your body, whilst also
preventing the breakdown of this protein and allowing for a better build-up of
muscle. But, there are actually no studies in place to prove this as it is only
proven to help those with muscle-wasting diseases or trauma such as burns. In
healthy individuals, the extra glutamine is actually first sent to the gut
rather than to your muscles. This can improve your overall gut health in the
long term, then, but does nothing really for your bodybuilding efforts.
Glucosamine
This particular supplement is famous
for its apparent ability to heal problems in the joints, relieving joint pain.
So, although it doesn’t actually help build muscles many people do use it to
recover from heavy workout routines. However, reportedly though it does help
relieve joint pain it is not a substantial amount. Taking any other type of
pain relief would have the same effect. For this reason, it is a largely
redundant supplement to take.
Testosterone Boosters
Many bodybuilders use testosterone
boosters in order to naturally increase their testosterone levels for workouts.
This then apparently leads to bigger muscles, less fat and better overall
athletic performance. The truth is that unless you have lower than average
testosterone levels already, then a booster won’t actually do much for your
overall muscle growth. If you are a serious athlete then they could also
potentially get you into a lot of trouble for no use.
BCAAs
Branched-chain amino acids are acids
which we unable to process on our own in the body. They are essential acids and
also important for building muscles, while also stimulating protein synthesis
and helping to reduce overall muscles breakdown. This all sounds great, so why
is it a bad supplement to take? The reason for this is largely down to the fact
that most other supplements already contain these BCAA’s - such as a whey
protein mix - and so introducing this on its own also will mean you have an
overabundance in your system.
Overall, knowing the right health supplements and
probiotics
capsules but also the wrong ones is an
important part of having a healthy bodybuilding routine. Understanding what
goes into your body and how it helps you to build muscles should be one of your
biggest priorities as a bodybuilder. The bottom line is that there are many
supplements which are simply not worth the money, so it is better to avoid them
from the outset.
